Joseph A. Zaccaria, CPP an American national with Permanent Resident status in Canada. He previously lived in Asia, and has worked across the region for the past 14 years. You can find him commuting around the world often on behalf of his multinational corporate (MNC) clients. Joe has managed large security design/build, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), security planning, and threat assessment projects. He has been called on to lead advance Executive Protection (EP) Assessments, Venue Planning, Protective Team Facilitation, and overseas team deployment for EP programs on behalf of high profile individuals and corporate clients.

His project work extends across the United States and Canada, and into Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Korea, and elsewhere around the world. Joe is skilled in dealing with the security challenges of the Third World, and operating within a framework of cultural diversity. He frequently is asked to tap these skills in North America, where the corporate world view has been transformed by our global business needs and realities. He understands the problems that western corporations face in their international expansion efforts, and is kept keenly aware of current international security threats through his global network of contacts.

He has over 24 years experience public security, crime prevention, physical security, security design, and health care finance issues. He is a graduate of the LEAP police training, US Department of Veterans Affairs Management Training, and forensic science at the Community College of Rhode Island. Joe attended the US National Crime Prevention Institute, where he received a certificate in CPTED. He recently completed refresher ASIS courses in Facility Security Design and Executive Protection Management. He is very familiar with many CCTV, access control and other major security products. Joe is also certified with several data-driven security risk assessment software tools. Three years ago he developed the product specifications for a cutting edge Security Incident Reporting software system that is now used globally.

As Asia MD and then International Managing Director for Consulting for a large global consulting firm, he was responsible for performing Threat and Risk Assessments (TRA’s), managing Proprietary Information Protection programs, providing Security Consulting and Management programs and CPTED design project work internationally. He is often found working with architects, project planners, engineers, and other professionals to facilitate the development of CPTED-centered architectural security building designs. His design projects have included Semiconductor Fabrication, Stock Exchange, Banking & Financial, Healthcare, Retail Superstores, Corporate HQ, and other critical business environments.

Joe is a member of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the Vancouver Board of Trade Crime Taskforce, the International CPTED Association (ICA), and ASIS International, where he is recognized as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Board Certified in Security Management. He speaks English and Thai.
